Dear Miss Toast, On a recent trip to the cinema, I scanned the wall of movie posters, and one dazzled under the “Coming Soon” lights. The film is ”Toast.” Here is the first line from the NYTimes review: “The fragrance of crispy browned bread — the only dish his mother knew how to cook without ruining it — is the Proustian madeleine that unlocks the memories of Nigel Slater, the narrator of “Toast.”’ Do you recommend that your readers see it? It is starring Helena Bonham Carter. I think you’d agree that based on the title alone it should be rated FOUR STARS

Received this thoughtful question in toasttocoastblog@gmail.com recently.
My reply? YES!
Miss Toast,
I was wondering , in your professional
opinion —in the song DO RE MI from Sound of Music, do you think the lyric ”tea with jam and bread” is a reference (direct or indirect) to toast?
Pls go into as much detail as you can. It has been weighing heavily on my
Mind for some time now.
Thank you,
A concerned Toastaphile
